Dyne Jewelry: Rihanna’s Favorite Brand Redefining Classic Design
Dyne Jewelry: A Modern Redefinition of the Classics, Favored by Rihanna
On a September Friday, as afternoon light began to fade, Sarah Ysabel Narici was deep in an urgent diamond-related mission. The Brit-Italian designer, based in New York, launched her brand Dyne in 2022. Despite its recent start, the label quickly gained cult status among major figures in music and fashion. Among its loyal admirers is Rihanna, recently photographed on the cover of ELLE alongside Charli XCX, Vittoria Ceretti, and Cynthia Erivo.

From the Runway to the Red Carpet, Has the Clear Shoe Trend Gone Too Far?Dyne’s pieces resemble rare artifacts or works of art more than typical jewelry found in retail stores. Imagine rings with hieroglyphic engravings or magnetic hoops adorned with inverted emeralds of rich intensity and sparkling diamonds. Narici’s professional training is solid, combining studies at Central Saint Martins in London with those at the Gemological Institute of America in New York. Before launching her own label, she honed her skills at prestigious houses including Marina B, Lorraine Schwartz, Alexander McQueen, and Stephen Webster, as well as in the iconic atelier of Lorenz Bäumer on Place Vendôme in Paris.
„I was the child who didn’t just move my parents’ furniture and redesign their rooms,” Narici recalls in a phone call between activities in the diamond district. „I remember spending all my time drawing, which was my passion.” She grew up with her grandmother and parents, who constantly took her to art galleries and invested time in nurturing her interests, which she believes helped enormously.
The launch of her own line was somewhat serendipitous. She knew she would soon be engaged and wanted to actively participate in creating her engagement ring. The piece needed to be distinctive, with a presence that felt almost extraterrestrial. „I knew I wanted something that wasn’t white,” she says, referring to the process of selecting the perfect stone. „This was crucial for me, and the shape shouldn’t be round.” She is passionate about antique stones, preferring those that appear warmer, with shallower facets and broader cuts.

Narici worked methodically on this project, producing 80 different design sketches, which she still references today. Each sketch formed the foundation for the Dyne universe. The brand releases new, extremely limited pieces once a year. Narici insists these are not mere collections but function as autonomous creative theories. This exclusive approach partly explains why her work has attracted Rihanna’s attention for high-profile events like the Met Gala, where the musician wore one of the massive hoops from the Elixia series.
„The rhythm of fine jewelry, the attention to craftsmanship and detail, and the time one can devote to an object—these elements are becoming increasingly important to me,” Narici states. „It’s a perfect convergence of the things I deeply care about: history, fine art, and sculpture.” However, she found fine art too intimidating as a subject, feeling it was too vague. She has always liked fashion but found it too ephemeral. She loved the idea that objects could endure, exist through history.
The core of Dyne’s aesthetic lies in a raw tension between the ancient and the futuristic. Her Central Saint Martins graduation collection was titled 2050. „I was imagining a society preparing to leave planet Earth and creating objects meant to remind us of the ground,” she explains. „These themes—exploring ancient history, using symbols and codes to evoke memory, marking and leaving traces, bringing things into the future—remain very clear in my work.”
If Dyne is a reliable indicator, the jewelry of the future will likely resemble artifacts from a distant past—just don’t forget to pair them with diamonds.
